Plaining is a great solution for floors that have had previous grooving or pattern printed which has left a rough finish.

Sawing of the slat resulting in zero damage to slat and strength opposed to other methods of hammering the grooves.

About Kirby Cattle

Kirby Cattle Services are highly experienced in hoof health, which means we can advise on the best pattern and grooving to suit your setup and cattle – whether it is a brand new setup or an existing flooring which can be plained and readjusted to give you the best surface possible.

Prior to creating Kirby Cattle Services, our founder, Joe Kirby began his career as a fully qualified hoof trimmer. A visit to the USA for advanced qualifications taught Joe how important flooring is and how it can affect hooves. This got him thinking, as he had seen herd lameness as a result of poor flooring. His aim was to improve flooring to prevent lameness and save costs on injuries.

Because of this vast experience in hoof trimming, we can advise on the best pattern for your cattle and setup whether it is new or existing flooring which can be plained and readjusted to give the best surface possible.
